It’s been just over a month since I took up the challenge to ride 100 miles for CFC Sportive on 27th May. A physical feat for a completely inexperienced rider, with practically 0 road bike miles under my belt.
Being this far from ready; training needs to be taken slowly and seriously. This first month saw me ride 2-3 times a week indoors, short rides for the first week where I had to stop at 20 minutes… drowning in my own sweat! Through persistence and commitment to getting those miles in, I have now been able to clock a 40 minute ride at a 180 watt average.
Give me a follow and check out my progress on Strava!
Obviously this is nowhere near close enough to the big 100. Over the coming month I will be upping the gears and pushing myself to get the miles in on the road whilst also hitting that 45min/1hour indoor ride! Need I mention the zero experience riding with traffic, fingers crossed I get the clip-off spot on when I hit those junctions!
Hopefully I’ll be back next month as a stronger, fitter rider. Now it’s time to get back on the bike! Just 3 months until I have to #hammerthe100
Our target is to raise £1000. £1000 can buy x2 adapted bikes or a whole heap of accessories for Cyclists Fighting Cancer and we think it’s an achievable target. You can donate to our cause below, any donation helps. Give me no excuse to back out!
