We’ve wrapped up this years CFC Sportive after a long journey of training from 0 miles!
What a day it was. Myself and Paul set off early to avoid what we thought would be a stormy day, when in fact the weather was actually in our favour. Remaining clear for the first half of the ride.
Pushing past 50 miles…
Everything was going great until we reached the 2nd checkpoint at 60 miles. At this point my body began to feel the harsh affects of riding in what was now very humid conditions. Making what was already a massive challenge even harder – pushing my breathing to the limit!
Empty tank at 62 miles! 🙁
Mentally and physically broken. I crawled to a stop after a small climb, at this point I knew that I wouldnt be able to push much further but I still had a sense of responsibility to finish the 100 miles! That push didn’t last long, unfortunately I grinded to a final halt at 65 miles, calling it a day and passing out on the road side waiting for my pickup!
Paul continued to finish the entire 100 miles! Big congratulations and thanks to him for all the help and training he provided. I now have a real appreciation for the difficulty in cycling and we have raised money for a great cause!
Mine and Paul’s target is to raise £1000. £1000 can buy x2 adapted bikes or a whole heap of accessories for Cyclists Fighting Cancer and we think it’s an achievable target. You can still donate before we close up donations!
